ARTIST : BLACKPOOLE

ALBUM : MIDNIGHT IN LA

RELEASED : AUGUST 2025

Listening to Midnight in L.A. feels like stepping into another world—a neon dream where Los Angeles streets come alive at midnight. Blackpoole, the synthwave project from Germany, has created an album that doesn’t just play in the background; it pulls you in like a movie.
The story of Chris and Kate unfolds track by track, and I found myself really caring about them. The narration by Jon White makes the journey feel cinematic, like I was being told a love story as the music carried me through. The guitar sounds of Wassim Rahmani are stunning—they bring a real emotional punch, cutting through the dreamy synths with something raw and human. And with the addition of Luci Rivas vocals, they enhance the emotional resonance of the album as if Kate is singing the story to us.
What I love most is that it’s not just about retro vibes or synth nostalgia. Sure, it has that shimmering ‘80s feel, but it’s sincere, not just an aesthetic. The music has heart, and the story feels genuine.
For me, Midnight in L.A. is one of those albums you listen to start to finish, like watching a film unfold in sound. It’s romantic, it’s dreamy, and it’s something I’ll be coming back to whenever I want to escape into a neon-lit night.

ALBUM - WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE

RELEASED - 5th MARCH 2026

Where Do We Go From Here by Abraham, Baker, Lyndon, is a reflective progressive-rock collaboration that blends melodic songwriting with atmospheric instrumentation. The project brings together guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Lee Abraham, keyboardist Dean Baker, and vocalist Andrew Lyndon, creating a sound that sits between classic progressive rock and accessible pop-rock structures.

Although the album was originally recorded in 2008, its songs trace back even further to material written during the 1990s, giving the record a sense of musical history and patience in its development. After years circulating only as a demo recording, the project was finally officially released on Oskar Records in 2026 with updated mixes and a definitive tracklist.

Musically, the album balances longer progressive compositions with melodic vocal passages. Tracks such as “Blind,” “Sacrifice,” and the title track showcase extended arrangements, expressive guitar work, and layered keyboards that build a cinematic atmosphere. At the same time, songs like “Wanting You” and “Cold” provide more concise and emotional moments, highlighting Andrew Lyndon’s ( Kevin Prior ) clear vocal style.

Overall, Where Do We Go From Here feels like a rediscovered progressive rock project—one that combines thoughtful songwriting with rich instrumentation. Its long journey to release gives the album an almost archival quality, but the music itself remains engaging and melodic, appealing both to fans of modern prog and listeners who appreciate classic melodic rock influences.

ARTIST - ANTON WITTER

TRACK - SIGNAL LOST

RELEASED - 6th MARCH 2026

“Signal Lost” is a concise, atmospheric slice of modern electronic music that balances clarity with mood. The track moves with a steady, pulsing energy while gradually layering shimmering synth textures and subtle rhythmic elements.

What stands out most is Witter’s sense of restraint: rather than overwhelming the listener with dense production, he lets the melodic lines breathe, giving the piece a reflective, almost cinematic feel. The synth tones feel nostalgic without sounding dated, echoing the tradition of classic synth-driven electronic music while still feeling contemporary.
The track’s title fits its sonic character well—there’s a faint sense of distance or disconnection running through the arrangement, like a signal fading in and out through a cloud of analogue warmth. Despite its relatively short runtime, the composition manages to create a complete emotional arc, building atmosphere before gently dissolving back into silence. The inclusion of Eleanor Witter's haunting vocal alongside the beautiful guitar sounds of Sonny Leach make this track feel both intimate and cinematic, unfolding like a quiet midnight confession carried on waves of echoing strings.

Overall, “Signal Lost” is a polished and evocative electronic piece that demonstrates Anton Witter’s knack for crafting melodic, immersive soundscapes without unnecessary excess. It’s the kind of track that rewards both casual listening and repeat plays, revealing subtle details each time.
